In our previous blog, we outlined a disciplined process for strategic planning by Boards. Working from a Vision of the organisation in a decade, the process leads to the development of measurable and executable actions for management and staff over the life of the Strategic Plan.
In that blog, we made the point that, to be effective, we have found that the process itself needs to be well understood by all those involved before the planning starts, so that each element of the plan is developed with the focused engagement of all those involved. we don’t want to be arguing over the process for planning while doing the planning.
Similarly,we have found it useful to have a simple workbook available for participants to capture their ideas and the agreed strategies.
